“We have introduced eight extra buses on the busy route number 180 between Malad and Sion,” said an official. On another popular route, between Kurla station and MMRDA/Bandra-Kurla Complex, the BEST added five buses. On route number 459 Ltd, from Malad Depot to Mulund station, the BEST will now ply eight additional buses. With the inauguration of a new bus depot in Malad (W) last month, there are now three new bus services between this depot and Malad station. Assistant PRO D S Kharat said the extra buses will cater to office-goers. The BEST will also run extra buses from Borivli to Kandarpada on public demand.
Among those cancelled were a few routes for Sundays and holidays. “We have terminated route 218 (Kurla to Bandra Terminus) and AS-7 from Maheshwari Udyan to Backbay Depot via Worli, said a traffic wing official. The JVPD-2 route from Andheri station to JVPD bus station has also been cancelled. Commuters expressed displeasure over the cancellations. The cancelled buses on Sundays and public holidays are AS-2 (Mira Road to Worli), C-8 (Mantralaya to Shivaji Nagar via Eastern Freeway) and AS-707 (Andheri to Bhayander)
