‘EC Is Dead’: Akhilesh Yadav Reiterates Claim Of Voter Harassment In Milkipur Bypolls
A day after the Milkipur Bypolls in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said that the Election Commission is dead and that he would soon gift a white shroud. Yadav had alleged that the voters were being influenced to create fear and demanded action against the police officials.
“This is the manner in which BJP contests elections. Election Commission is dead. We will have to gift them white cloth,” he said.
On February 5, Yadav had asked the Election Commission to take cognizance of the purported pictures reacted to the Ayodhya police checking the ID cards of voters in Milkipur, wherein senior police officers were are also said to have been involved.
Yadav had alleged that the voters were being influenced to create fear, and demanded action against the police officials who he claimed were involved in the matter.
“This is a democratic crime of indirectly influencing voting by creating fear among voters. Such people should be removed immediately and punitive action should be taken,” he said.
